Learn how to make a Thanksgiving leftover turkey and cranberry sliders recipe using gouda slices and Hawaiian rolls for a delicious Black Friday lunch.
Thanksgiving Leftovers
We all know the drill. We spend all day cooking and enjoying Thanksgiving dinner and then we have to face the music. What do we do with all the leftover turkey? (And who is going to do all these dishes?!) I can’t help you with those dishes, but I’ve got you covered with the leftover turkey recipes!
I’ve discovered a few tricks over the years for reheating Thanksgiving leftovers without turning them into mush…
- Green Bean Casserole is best heated in the oven at 350 degrees until bubbly. Some extra crispy onions on the top helps!
- Mashed potatoes are great warmed on the stove with a little added milk or cream.
- Stuffing needs to re-crisp in a skillet on the stovetop with some melted butter.
Even with those tricks, leftover Thanksgiving food is never as good as the originals. Except…. in these sliders!
In this Thanksgiving Leftover Turkey and Cranberry Sliders recipe, leftover turkey and cranberry sauce are layered with sliced gouda cheese and sweet Hawaiian rolls. The topping has a bit of Dijon mustard to contrast the sweetness and gives the sliders buns a perfectly crisp caramelized top.
This recipe creates a new dish with your leftover turkey and cranberry, so Thanksgiving food burnout is not an issue! These sliders are the perfect way to use leftover Thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sauce that might just be better than the original!
Leftover Turkey and Cranberry Sliders
- Prep time: 20 minutes
- Cook time: 30 minutes
- Servings: 6
- Serving size: 2 sliders
Ingredients
- 15 Hawaiian slider buns
- 4 cups leftover turkey
- 1 ½ cups leftover cranberry sauce (any kind)
- 8 (sandwich size) slices of gouda cheese
- 8 tbsp. (½ cup) of butter
- 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Coat 9×13 inch pan with non-stick spray.
2. Cut Hawaiian buns in half and place the bottom half into the pan. Set aside the tops.
3. Break apart leftover turkey into bite-sized chunks. Cover the bottom buns with the turkey.
4. Spoon cranberry sauce over the turkey. It’s okay if it is too gelatinized to spread, it will melt and spread in the oven.
5. Layer slices of gouda cheese on top of the turkey and cranberry. Finish with the tops of the buns.
6. In a small pot, combine the butter, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, sesame seeds, and Worcestershire sauce over medium heat. Heat until melted and combined.
7. Pour topping over the buns. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
