If you’re in the market for a luxury single-to-double stroller you simply have to check out the Nuna Demi Grow stroller. This stroller has a lot to offer and we feel it is a serious contender for many families.
Getting a double stroller can be a stressful experience. Let us take at least some of the guesswork out of that process by giving you the lowdown on the Nuna Demi Grow to give you the buying confidence you really need.
This is a single-to-double stroller so it might not be best for twin families. As us experienced twin parents know, you lose a lot of storage and legroom when you convert these kinds of strollers into a twin stroller. We’ll explain this a bit more in-depth later, but just know that if you are looking for one stroller to last from your very first outing with twins until the very last day your “big kids” will need a stroller, this might not be the model for you.
Back to Double Stroller Reviews.
The pros of the Nuna Demi Grow
There’s a lot to like about this single-to-double stroller. We know that many families really love this stroller. Let’s talk about the best features of this stroller first.
Stylish with eye-catching color, finishes, and design. This stroller has all the high-end finishes you like to see.
Car seat adapter is included. That makes it good for an infant. It works with the Nuna Pipa seat or the Maxi Cosi seat.
Bassinet compatible. You can purchase a bassinet to use with your infant, as well if the car seat option doesn’t appeal to you. The bassinet snaps easily into place with no effort at all.
Versatility. This stroller has 23 different configurations! Holy moly! That’s a lot of options.
Plush seats! These seats just scream luxury. They are padded and have a removable liner for cold weather. The headrest and shoulder straps on the 5-point harness are also padded for added comfort.
Full-recline the seats with just one hand for napping on the go.
Each seat can hold 50lbs! That’s a big deal for a single-to-double stroller. Often times the second seat has a much lower weight limit. Not with the Nuna Demi Grow!
Rain, rain, go away! A rain cover is included with each seat to keep your kiddos dry.
Peek-a-boo! Can we talk about the magnetic peek-a-boo window on the extended canopy? It’s fantastic and the breathable mesh is amazing for air movement. Who else has a hot sleeper?
Adjustable all-wheel suspension foam-filled tires to handle just about any terrain you walk on. Give your kiddos a smooth ride, even hiking in the woods.
Adjustable leatherette handlebar to make pushing the Nuna Demi Grow comfortable for just about any height.
Easy fold. It also stands by itself when folded which is a big bonus as a twin parent.
The cons of the Nuna Demi Grow
Be aware that the cons to this stroller are pretty glaring. That’s not to say we HATE this stroller. We really don’t. We just really don’t love it for twins.
Let’s take a look at some of its biggest drawbacks and see for yourself if these are things you can live with. And keep in mind that we are looking at this through the lens of a twin parent. If you have singletons it might work perfectly for you.
Loss of storage. Okay, so you know how much room is saved by having the second seat stacked under the first one, basically? Yeah, the trade-off is that you completely lose your storage basket. As in, the seat sits IN the storage basket. Not great for twin families, even with infants.
The second seat is stuck. So, it’s not really STUCK exactly. But you really can’t move it around. The Demi Grow has 23 different configurations and the only way this second seat can be used is forward-facing. I don’t know about you, but I get claustrophobic just looking at a little one in that second seat.
Short-term solution. At best. We feel that for twin families, you might be lucky to get 2 or 3 years out of this stroller. Even if your toddler isn’t anywhere near the weight limit of that second seat, it will not be an adequate seat after that time.
It’s heavy. This stroller is more than 35lbs. For a twin stroller, it isn’t the heaviest but it’s not even close to the lightest either. It will be a bit of a pain to lug in and out of the trunk of your car and heaven help you if you live in a walk-up.
Available accessories
There are a few accessories you might want to consider when you purchase this stroller.
Bassinet
This bassinet can be folded flat for compact storage and includes an extended 50+ UPF canopy with a dream drape to allow your infant to sleep undisturbed by light changes.
Bassinet stand
This stand folds and unfolded with just one hand. It comes with a large storage basket that sits below the bassinet.
Cup Holder
This cup holder snaps right on the handlebar to hold your coffee or water.
Should you get a Nuna Demi Grow single-to-double stroller?
We clearly can’t tell you to buy one stroller over another. What works for one family may not for another and we don’t want to get in the habit of deciding we always know what’s best. Double stroller shopping is so complicated because of this very reason.
That being said, if you have twins we strongly recommend you look into getting the Contours Options Elite or the Joovy Twin Roo+ for a tandem stroller. You may also want to consider a side-by-side double stroller. Check out some of the best side-by-side strollers you can find.
However, if you have 2 singletons with a significant age gap of two or more years, this might be a feasible option for you. It would be easy to put a newborn on the bottom and then a toddler on the top seat. Keep in mind you still lose that storage basket just by using the second seat.
