The April 2013 Super MoM is
–Michelle Perry–
Her friend Karen sent in the following nomination to tell us why this mother of teenage triplets ROCKS!
What Makes Her Super?
Michelle is the mother to TRIPLET TEENAGERS. She has raised her fourteen-year-olds to be respectful, confident (despite physical limitations) and kind. My teens arrived at the age one at a time, and that was difficult enough.
How Is She an Extraordinary Advocate for Her Children?
One child has severe CP (back fusing surgery, electric wheelchair). Michelle uses social media/games to help her daughter “practice” writing skills in a non-threatening way. She doesn’t accept excuses, but expects effort. This winter, her husband had a sudden, life threatening tear in his esophagus, and Michelle communicated effectively on Facebook to faraway family and friends — letting us know the seriousness of it — without putting it in terms to scare her kids. Throughout her husband’s “life or death” days, she kept her composure and focus with the kids.
How Does She Help Her Community in an Outstanding Way?
She is a full-time pastor’s wife and mentor to other moms. She is also a kindergarten teacher who goes above and beyond to treat each student and family with love and kindness.
How Does She Sacrifice for Her Friends and Family?
She has triplets and a pastor husband… absolutely, she sacrifices!
Is She the ‘Go-To’ Mom in Your Area?
She was a go-to mom when I lived nearby, and she continues to reach out and encourage even though I’ve moved to a new state. I miss her!
Why Do YOU Think She’s Super?
I’ve always thought Michelle was super. When her husband almost died (about two weeks in the hospital) she showed her true inner strength. She juggles three teenagers and their unique needs, a kindergarten class of sweet kids, a church family and friendship with grace. In the mom arena, especially, she shines. One daughter adores Scotty McCreery, so Michelle knows about Scotty. Her son is a soccer player, and she became a soccer mom (she’s a southern belle, not a sports fanatic). Her other daughter has an amazing singing voice and Michelle encourages her interests and talent too. I’ve known her since before kids — and watching her grow into the teen years with her kids has been fun! She really shows how to parent for the long haul.
Thank you Karen for nominating Michelle! We were glad to get to know such an amazing mother of multiples! We asked Michelle to tell us her top tips for parenting teenage multiples. This is what she said:
Twiniversity, along with MAM is sending Michelle to a Spa with a $50 gift certificate so she can get some R&R.
MAM is a small Austrian company with big ideas! They got their start in 1976 with a mission to combine outstanding design, optimal functionality and medical know- how to a line of smart baby products. Starting with one unique pacifier, today MAM’s range includes a variety of intelligent baby design in four key areas- pacifiers, bottles, teethers and oral care.
