On February 26th, 2012 Patricia and Joan Miller were found dead. These 73 year old identical twins actresses, who appeared on TV in the late 50’s, are now being investigated as a very mysterious double death in their neat and tidy South Lake Tahoe home.
One body was found downstairs in a bedroom, and the other was in the hallway just outside that room.
There was no sign of struggle, and nothing indicated that these women had any life threatening health troubles. “My perception is one died and the other couldn’t handle it,” said Detective Matt Harwood with the El Dorado County sheriff’s office. “It appears purely natural, but we are still trying to piece it all together.”
It’s been said that the bond of identical twins is stronger then any other human relationship. Could one sisters passing have been too much for the other? Many of you might recall the story from 2011 where 92 year old identical brothers died on the same day as well. Perhaps the thought of living without their “other half” was too much for these sets of twins.
Neither of the Miller twins ever married. Neither had children or pets. They were recluses, on the rare occasion they did leave their home, they never even spoke to their neighbors. Police could not even find any living relatives at the time of this story’s publication.
Concerned neighbors tipped the police off and asked them to check on the house. When the cops arrived on 2/25, no one answered the door. The next day police forced their way in and found the sisters bodies.
The bond of an identical twin is only one that could be understand by their twin sibling.
Our condolences to the Miller family. Is it odd to say, that as a parent of multiples, I find this story unusual, but comforting? Based on your religious beliefs, if you believe in an afterlife, at least they will still have each other.
